REFLECTING ON 2024: A YEAR OF GROWTH, INNOVATION + COMMUNITY AT THE MILL

As we close out the year, it’s the perfect time to look back on the milestones we’ve accomplished together and share a glimpse into what’s ahead for The Mill. Thanks to your unwavering support, we’ve continued to foster innovation, empower entrepreneurs, and grow Bloomington’s community of creators and visionaries.

This year marked six incredible years since The Mill opened its doors, and what a journey it’s been! Together, we’ve built a thriving ecosystem for startups, remote workers, and big thinkers—a place where ambition truly lives.

Here’s a quick look at some of 2024’s highlights:

• Seven Mira Awards for excellence in entrepreneurship and innovation, with nominations for nine more!
• The launch of the Indiana Uplands Accelerator, propelling regional startups to new heights.
• A huge celebration for the 20th Crossroads competition, now a flagship event for showcasing Midwest startups.
• Bloomington Remote set a record for individuals moved this year—an incredible 25% increase—making Bloomington even more attractive for remote workers.
• Bloomington ranked as the 3rd most active city for Global Entrepreneurship Week, with The Mill earning recognition as the 8th most active organization worldwide.
• Code/IT Academy expanded into five new counties, providing upskilling and career advancement opportunities for more Hoosiers than ever before.
• And, of course, the grand opening of The Forge, our newest innovation space in the Trades District, which was celebrated with IU President Pam Whitten, Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson, and Senator Todd Young.

These milestones aren’t just numbers or accolades—they’re proof of what’s possible when a community comes together to share ideas, take risks, and pursue big dreams.
